Before creating gardens for a living, I worked in the arts and publishing worlds, and was fortunate to live for extended periods in Paris, Berlin and New York.
Returning to London, I had the opportunity to make my first garden in a derelict and very brambly plot in Peckham. Before long, a hobby became an obsession, and I would go on to complete my professional training with the RHS in 2020. Thereafter, I began making gardens for others, too.
The Peckham garden
With a background in the history of art and architecture, I’m always seeking to sensitively channel the spirit or atmosphere of a place: its history, its architecture, and above all the people who will live with and care for it.
Unlike most designers, installing and maintaining the gardens I make is a core part of my practice. It gives clients the opportunity to have an ongoing relationship with their designer, and the designer with the garden.
Getting to know the soil, the seasons, the people who use a garden; these all have a huge impact on a project’s long-term success.
